Customer Rating: Summary: eSata rocks! Comment: Added this to my system for an R7 install. Very happy with speed and reliability so far. It boots faster than my internal drives with XP.
Customer Rating: Summary: Simply not reliable Comment: Alas, I have to agree with those who have found this disk to be non-reliable. It performed great - until it died after about 4 months in use. I would suggest spending a few more bucks on a "name-brand" model.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works but something loose inside Comment: Works just fine even though when I move the device around there sounds like there's a loose part inside the case...
Customer Rating: Summary: Works good! Comment: This was a simple, no-nonsense purchase. Mine worked fine out of the box and within minutes, I was backing up files from my computer through the USB connection. I'll probably put in the eSATA connection and use that, even with USB, I was able to quickly back-up what I needed.
The price is good and having done a bit of research before buying, I found quite a few positive reviews from leading electronic publications. I just wanted a hard drive to back-up my computer and this item did the trick, simply and cheaply.
Customer Rating: Summary: Cavalry Storage CAXM Series 500 GB USB Comment: This drive came was very easy to install. It was necessary first to install the eSATA bracket and connection into my computer and then to plug the drive into this new interface. This installation was quite simple, and when I was done and powered up the computer, the system recognized the new drive instantly and was ready to go.
No software comes with the drive -- something I knew up-front and did not mind since I already had purchased Second Copy backup software to use with the drive that I was replacing.
The one drawback I find with the drive is related to my computer shutdown. When I shut down my computer, the Cavalry drive stops spinning which is great, but the light on the drive still glows brightly. Since I like to have all unnecessary lights off when appliances are not in use, I would prefer to have this light extinguish when the computer is off. As it does not do this automatically, I must switch the unit off separately, and then remember to turn it on manually when I restart my computer.
