Customer Rating: Summary: Nice machine Asus ul30a Comment: I mostly use it for just basic email and games and facebook. I really like it overall but I have two criticiams. The touchpad is difficult to use and I am very prone to accidental commands while moving around the pad. I may try to get an external mouse, but this is somewhat annoying. Also, the space bar is quite flimsy and is not always responsive when I type, which is also annoying when typing out lengthy emails to friends. I was looking for a replacement machine after my HP unexpectedly died on me (the screen went in about a year). I was initially primarily looking at netbooks, especially next asus up, line but wanted more power, while maintaining the light and small form factor at the same time. I happened to stumble across the machine upon a recommendation from a friend. I have been using it for about a month now and am extremely pleased. Windows 7 runs very smooth, and almost all of my applications run without problems. I am able to play movies without skipping and ouput them to my HDTV via the HDMI output, which was an important feature for me. The screen is very clear as well.
Customer Rating: Summary: where's my 12 hours of battery life? Comment: this is a reasonably priced notebook. i bought it primarily for its light weight and its battery life. when it arrived, there was a scratch on the touchpad left click button, which i am going to live with since amazon does not have this in stock for me to exchange. so far, after working on it for a couple of days, i have not encountered any issue. the only complaint (other than the scratch) is that i am not getting anywhere near the 12 hour battery life. even right after a full charge, the battery indicator shows 99% and somewhere around 6-7 hours remaining. the power is set at the recommended power4gear "balanced" power setting. i have no idea how one gets 12 hours. i actually wasn't really expecting the full advertised life, but i thought maybe closer to 10. so i am disappointed at that.
Customer Rating: Summary: Light..Powerful..Perfect Comment: After spending a few days with this laptop, I have to say that I love it!
Here is what I found
Pros:
Stylish, definitely not your everyday boring looking laptop
Keyboard feels great and is quiet when typing
Two finger scroll is so useful!
The screen is very bright and vibrant, everything looks sharp!
The speakers are impressively loud! Louder than some larger laptops I've seen
1 in thickness! It's extremely portable, and from the feel of it durable as well
500GB harddrive?! Wow, and it's an inch thick?
Cons:
Could they have put enough crap software on it?
Definitely a fingerprint magnet
Webcam is not the greatest
Overall this laptop has impressed me, I love how small it is and how I can fit it easily into just about any bag. Not to mention fast for it's size!
Customer Rating: Summary: Major problems in short period of time Comment: At first I was pretty happy with this laptop. Though I was never able to get 12 hours of battery time I did get around 8 or 9. It is nice having the quick boot and the laptop always stayed quiet and cool. However, after 2 months I went to boot it one day and the screen refused to come on. After two days I called the ASUS customer service and they had me send in the laptop. They ended up sending me a new one. After 2 weeks, the screen blacked out on that one as well! This time I called and after going back and forth for a while, they refunded my original purchase price. I will say good things about their customer service, but I would be leery about purchasing another from them. I was also not impressed with their build quality as compared to other companies' laptops that I have had.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice Comment: Good computer, cheap, useful and nice looking.
Nothing to complaint about it, however, nothing to be excited about it.
Just a regular notebook with a cheap price.
Ah, for those that didn't see in the picture, the notebook doesn't have a CD reader. Just USB entries.
And the battery just last 10 hours with you use it in the economic mode without any of the nice graphics that they sell you with.
