Editorial Reviews:

Food Network star Guy Fieri takes you on a tour of America's most colorful diners, drive-ins, and dives in this tie-in to his enormously popular television show, complete with recipes, photos, and memorabilia.

Packed with Guy's iconic personality, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives follows his hot-rod trips around the country, mapping out the best places most of us have never heard of. From digging in at legendary burger joint the Squeeze Inn in Sacramento, California, baking Peanut Pie from Virginia Diner in Wakefield, Virginia, or kicking back with Pete's "Rubbed and Almost Fried" Turkey Sandwich from Panini Pete's in Fairhope, Alabama, Guy showcases the amazing personalities, fascinating stories, and outrageously good food offered by these American treasures.

Summary: Very interesting
Comment: It was a great book. My brother wanted it for christmas and he really likes it. He thinks it is cool how it talks about all the different places and then has a recipe to go with it.

Summary: Not As Good As The Show
Comment: If you have bought this book or are considering buying it, you are probably a fan of the show. I really dig the show and had to have this book. If you have ever tried to go on Food Network and get a list of the places that the show has gone to, or if you are going on a trip and vaguely recall that there was a place nearby that you wanted to check out, forget it. Guy's website is the pits for conveniently having that information handy. So along comes the book and, presto, here's your list! At least that problem is partially solved (the new season's locations aren't in it). The book is laid out as you might expect: a brief page or two for each location along with a recipe or two. The book itself isn't much to get excited about. The photo work is blah - not much color jumps out to interest the eye. The rim-shot humor from the show doesn't come through in written form. The recipes are okay, with some zeroing in on the most interesting dishes from some locations, while other recipes miss the mark entirely, leaving you to wonder, "Where did that one come from?" Guy isn't a food writer but the co-author, Ann Volkwein, is. She produced an outstanding Italian cookbook called "The Arthur Avenue Cookbook" which should have won awards if it hasn't already, so I felt a little let down by this recent effort. But, hey, if you like the show, you'll want the book. It's inexpensive as cookbooks go and it isn't supposed to be a slick, coffee table cookbook, but don't be surprised if it doesn't leave you wishing that the recipes were a little more on-track with the episodes.

Summary: Super Treat
Comment: Anyone who watches the show will love the book. We gave it as a gift and have visited around 10 of the places listed. It is fun and a super treat to anyone who loves an adventure. Sharon and Tony in Cincinnati

Summary: Disappointed
Comment: Very disappointed. One of my favorite programs and felt that the book didn't share any of the spots that I wanted or recipes that I was hoping to find. Have not opened it since I received it. Possible re-gift item.
